About Us

We are a family-run restaurant based on Quay Street . As a family we have lived on Quay street since 1902 and have a long history of looking after customers with Martine having worked in Nanny Mac’s (Margaret Mc Donagh) fish shop across the road (Mc donagh’s Seafood Bar)at a very young age. This tradition was passed on the my brother and I as we too worked with our mother in her restaurant preparing and  serving food.

Our family tradition and Galway’s Great trading ties with other countries have seeped into the bones of our restaurant and greatly influence everything we do. We believe in local irish produce prepared simply using traditional and  new  techniques from home and around the world.

Customer service is an inherited trait that we pass on to our team in the restaurant and we strive to make every customer feel as welcomed as Nanny Mac did all those years  ago.

Hi my wife & I were on a trip to Galway & dined in you restaurant on Sunday night last 15th May …. Top Marks for your steaks & wonderful Staff.

  2. You need to include opening days and hours on your website.

  3. Is your restaurant a nice place for an intimate romantic meal?

  4. Guys,
Recently moved to Galway and we have passed your place many times. We Found you out on Saturday night searching the web looking for a good steak in Galway. Where to start? You fitted us in at the last minute (thanks very much)and things just got better and better. Fantastic staff, happy, welcoming and friendly, great atmosphere especially on a dark and wet Wintery December night. Then there is the food, I have looked for steak served on the rib in Irish restaraunts for years without success and was delighted to find this on the board. I have to say, the food served to us on Saturday was definately some of the finest steak we have ever eaten anywhere in the world without exaggeration. Cooked to perfection and a taste that can only be described as heavenly, definately a masterclass in the perfect steak. Thanks so much, look forward to seeing you all again soon.

    Hi,

My sister and daughter and I were in Galway in May 2011 — from Canada eh :-)
We had our best meal in Galway at Martine’s, thank you very much. It was one of those times when every mouthful is so delicious that you just sit there murmuring “yum” sounds, happily engulfed in a heavenly taste explosion. That doesn’t say it at all, but you get my drift?

I had a wonderful velvety red wine. It was a Rioja, but my iPhone autocorrected the actual name and I didn’t notice until I was back on Vancouver Island. Can you tell me what it was by any chance? I can’t eat your food again unless I come back, but I would love another glass of that red.

Thanks for a great memory! I hope I get to return.
